Noonan Syndrome (NS)
Support Group Introductions

Casse, Doris (as at 5/97)

My son James Casse, born 22nd of February, 1987 with a Heart murmur resulting with major heart surgery in 1993 (December 22), pacemaker on the 28th December, 1993. Had several Testicle surgeries to bring down his testicles. Was also diagnosed only at 6 and a half years of age that he has NOONAN SYNDROME..... What a real shock. We did not even know what that word mean.

James is now ten years of age - he is still a fussy eater, does not put on a great deal of weight. Does have learning difficulties. I require to help him with his studies, repeating, going over and over work. When he was a baby he did not suck very well. Had I know that he had NS at that time, it would have been much easier to understand why he was doing these things. Instead, I was made to feel that I am not feeding the child enough to put on more weight. James was rather reluctant to walk to the shops or school as he use to squat down. I thought he was just being lazy but I later learnt that due to his heart condition, he was out of breath, so was tired. He had a radiant of 70% and 80% blocked of the arteries back in 1993. The surgeon at the Royal Children's Hospital had to perform a major heart surgery to elevate that great percentage of pressure. He is always being monitored by his Paediatrician, Paediatrician Surgeon, and Cardiologist.

James is a happy boy who is very sensitive, affectionate, friendly, loves meeting people.

God Bless you. Take care, Kind Regards, Doris (mum of James)..
